DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
Over 1000 different blood tests are currently available. Careful selection of appropriate tests can assist the diagnosis and treatment
of a wide range of health problems.
These include various anaemias and other fatigue states, immune system status, rheumatoid arthritis
and polymyalgia, gout, thyroid and adrenal disorders, candidiasis, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and diabetes. Heart, liver and
kidney conditions, stomach ulcers and osteoporosis screening can also be requested. In addition, vitamin, mineral, amino acid and
essential fatty acid levels can be identified.
General screening may also be requested to identify changes in the blood chemistry before
symptoms develop.
ALLERGY TESTING
Various laboratories carry out reliable and comprehensive testing for food and airborne allergies. The E.L.I.S.A. (Enzyme Linked Immuno
Sorbent Assay) requires a finger-prick blood sample and is regarded as being very accurate.
This type of testing assists the diagnosis
and subsequent treatment for a wide range of health problems including digestive conditions, skin disorders, migraine, arthritis,
fatigue states, allergic rhinitis and asthma. Behavioural problems in children can also be linked to food intolerances.
SALIVA,URINE AND STOOL ANALYSIS
Saliva tests are of special value to assess hormone levels (e.g. adrenal hormones, female and male sex hormones).
Stool analysis can
be requested to measure gut parasites, occult blood and bacteria.
Urine tests are of particular value to measure gut dysbiosis and
the “leaky gut syndrome”.
